Bowls Club chairman Richard Mason said the upgrade would be a great boost for members.

“The bowls club is a fantastic asset of the community but had ageing infrastructure and facilities,”

Mr Mason said.

The refurbishment is funded by the State Government.

State Member for Aspley Bart Mellish said he was delighted the upgrade had started.

“By early next year the Geebung Bowls Club will look completely different, with a new entry, new bar and revitalised interior,”

Mr Mellish said.

“Geebung Bowls Club is an important part of the local community and I was very pleased to secure them funding for this upgrade, which will hold them in good stead for many years to come”

Create It Constructions at Geebung was awarded the contract for the upgrade, which is expected to be completed between mid-December and early 2020.
